When A Servant Is Greater Than A Master

Many of us wanted to be Jesus, many more inclined to give up everything, including their life to be Him. Ironically, we are not prepared to live like Him? We only wanted to be Jesus, yet we are not willing to live the exemplary life He taught us. ~sigh~

The answers above is a result of my own findings when I posed this question to many "Christians". Everyone, without hesitation affirmed positively with a big yes that they loved the honor behind being Jesus.

Would you agree with me that there's always a hint of pomposity in leadership? And that humility in servanthood garnered more respect than "arrogance" in leadership. What I meant is people revere humility more than pomposity. I can hear murmuring that my statement is not true. Leadership itself is arrogance! Philippians 2:3 provides an excellent challenge!

The reason everyone wanted to be Jesus could be because Jesus commanded authority and many of us lust hideously for that glamour. Just like a designer's brand, we are only interested in the name. But we have forgotten that it's the work, the blood, sweat and tears behind the glamorous name! Philippians 2:5 outlined with details how Jesus was exalted because of what He did.

Humility exudes love. Humility without the love ingredient cannot work on its own. Love must be alive in humility to fulfill its purpose. When our heavenly Father gave Jesus Christ, a son He dearly loved to us at the cross, I am sure its because He was filled with overwhelming love for us that drove Him to humble Himself for us. Remember He is the Almighty God, the Creator! God, our Father humbled Himself as a son of man to die for us so that we can be sons of the living God.

So how can we be Jesus when we are not primed to live out His character? After all it's the character that's behind a name!

Are you prepared to be persecuted, prosecuted and executed in innocence?

Simpler task? How about washing feets, loving the unloved, forgiving those who hurt us, sharing what we have and (not what we don't want!).

It's sad that many of us never see our Lord Jesus as He is, we only see Him as we are!

Do you still want to be Jesus?
